Ask yourself the following questions:
Am I passionate about helping others?
Am I mature, responsible and ethical?
Do I want expert guidance from a clinician who diagnoses, treats and helps to create change in the lives of others on a daily basis?
Sherell Hebert is a native of Louisiana. She taught economically disadvantaged children In New Orleans' lower 9th ward. It was there that she realized that children sometimes come to school with problems that interfere with their learning. She realized that before she could teach them, she would have to reach them. Because the school had no counselor, she was not only the unofficial counselor for her students, but for many other teachers' students.
She later moved to Houston where she began teaching and (later counseling officially) in Houston ISD while working on graduate degrees in Counseling and Human Sciences.
She then moved to Cypress and worked with the Special Ed population while starting her private practice. In 2009, she decided to make it official and left the school system after 16 years to run her own private practice.
Sherell Hebert has been providing LPC Supervision to TX interns since 2009. Sherell loves providing supervision for two primary reasons:
She is passionate about the field of mental health and wants to help give new therapists the tools they will need in order to be successful with clients and successful in business.
She gets to enjoy aspects of her former life as an educator by providing knowledge to her interns through her monthly presentations that she facilitates during group supervision.
Sherell offers flexible supervision options to her interns. Interns can met face to face or via video, so long as the video meetings are within the guidelines set forth by the Texas State Board of Examiners of Professional Counselors.
Prospective LPC Interns
Because Sherell essentially puts her license on the line each time she allows an intern to work under her license, she expects interns to follow the rules set forth by the Texas State Board of Examiners of Professional Counselors. This means that interns must schedule weekly appointments and submit weekly logs.
Prospective LPC Interns are considered for supervision if they meet certain criteria. They must be mature. While guidance is a part of the process, it should be understood that all interns who are accepted will be expected to be responsible in all aspects of the supervisor-supervisee relationship. It is very simple. Just follow the boards's rules, adhere to the supervision contract and be both ethical and professional.
Questions are always welcome and help is always available. Though Sherell meets with her interns weekly, she is accessible between sessions for emergency situations.
